Position Title
Hospital Education Coordinator (part-time)
Description
General Summary: The Hospital Education Coordinator coordinates the educational aspects of the Hospital. Responsible for working with the managers of other departments and all contracted services to provide education opportunities to staff, patients, families and the community. The Hospital Education Coordinator is actively involved in department activities, transdisciplinary team activities, and LifeCare activities to ensure individualized, patient-centered health care for all patient populations admitted to LifeCare Hospital.
Patient Population: Delivers direct patient care appropriate to the patients served. The ages of the patients served are adult (18-65 years of age) and geriatric (65 and older).
Essential Functions:
1. Demonstrates proper performance of skills reflected and validated by the Clinical Nurse Educator competency checklist, always following LifeCare’s policies and procedures.
2. Establishes objectives and goals to meet the educational needs of LifeCare Hospital’s staff, patients and families.
3. Plans and implements programs to address needs shown through survey of staff, skills, checklists and patient/family surveys in a timely manner.
4. Formulates educational budget and is responsible for managing department within the allotted amount.
5. Stays informed of all education rehabilitation updates and acts as liaison to disseminate information to the rest of the hospital.
6. Responsible for the educational programs offered to patients/families and acts as a facilitator as needs arise.
7. Demonstrates good leadership by regularly keeping the directors of clinical services informed of departmental activities, needs, problems, and administrative matters on a regular basis.
8. Adheres to LifeCare policies, procedures, all safety plans, and all standards imposed by regulatory organizations.

Requirements
Experience: Previous experience providing or planning employee education in a hospital setting preferred.
Education:
1. A graduate of an accredited nursing program.
2. Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
Licensure/Certification: Current license in state where currently practicing.
